Kintsugi Inspired Pendants - Encouragement Gift - Double Sided Necklace - Hand Stamped - Kintsugi Necklace Rectangle, turquoise, gold
Kintsugi is the ancient art of repairing broken pottery with gold or silver. The cracks are viewed as part of the history of the object and not something to hide. The pottery is valued more repaired than in its original state.
I love the symbolism of the art, which inspired this new collection. The metal base is made from pieces that have imperfections that normally would have been tossed. I have created something new and beautiful out of them. The back is hand stamped with a word or phrase. Nearly each one has a unique phrase. The pendant is attached to an 18" antique gold chain with sturdy lobster clasp. The phrase is made to be worn close to your heart. The front of the pendant is made using clay and hand carving a design to look like broken pottery. I aim to make each pendant unique, making the pendant one of a kind. Please see all listing pictures for samplings of variety of designs. I then fill in the cracks with a liquid gold leaf, and add layers and layers of resin to color the clay and seal the gold leaf. Please note with my turquoise pendants, the resin is colorized by hand as well, so there can be differences in color based on the batch. :) With each batch, the carved design will differ from what is pictured in listing. Each letter and symbol is individually hand stamped into the metal using a metal stamp and hammer. It is all done by hand and eye, a true hand crafted process. Due to the letters being hand stamped, not by an engraver, please allow for slight variations. This is what makes each item one of a kind. :)
The necklace arrives displayed on a display card describing the art of Kintsugi with a word of encouragement. Arrives beautifully packaged ready for gift giving, even if it is a gift for yourself!
